Free Education Program Begins for People with Respiratory Diseases in August

New Eight Week Program Offers Advice about living with Pulmonary Diseases

New Hyde Park, NY, August 1, 2000

To help people who suffer from respiratory diseases learn more about ways for them to coupe with their condition, a local eight week community education program is being launched in August. The program, called "learning to live with respiratory diseases" is being sponsored by Home Respiratory Therapy and Equipment, Inc. (HRTE) and OXYGYM, a new specialty fitness center that caters to the needs of people suffering from chronic health conditions such as pulmonary diseases.

The program will offer people with respiratory problems and their families the opportunity to learn more about pulmonary diseases and specific techniques that can help them feel better. Specific topics that will be addressed during the sessions include stress management, relaxation/mediation techniques, medication management, breathing techniques and life management skills.

The sessions, which will be led by Nick Accinni, Certified Social Worker and a licensed Respiratory Therapist who has been providing community education programs for several years, will also provide a forum for people to ask questions about living with respiratory diseases and receive personal, one-on-one attention about their specific concerns.

The program will run for eight consecutive weeks, beginning either Tuesday, August 1st from 9:45a.m. - 11:00 a.m., or Thursday, August 3rd from 9:45a.m. - 11:00a.m. All sessions will be held at Home Respiratory Therapy & Equipment, Inc. located at 2341 New Hyde Park Road in New Hyde Park. To register for the program, or for more information, call 1-800-227-5707.
